Jurien Bay Beach Pavilion

A COASTAL ARCHITECTURE TRIUMPH

The Jurien Bay Beach Pavilion project represents a perfect fusion of innovative design and practical functionality along Western Australia’s stunning Turquoise Coast. Completed in October 2022 for the Shire of Dandaragan, this building has quickly become a defining landmark of Jurien Bay’s foreshore development.

Working with the team at MCG Architects, Hickey Construction brought to life a design that celebrates the raw beauty of its coastal setting. The pavilion’s distinctive character emerges from its sophisticated use of rolled structural steel, creating elegant curved forms that echo the natural flow of ocean waves. Complementing these modern elements, we incorporated rough-sawn timber features that add warmth and texture while paying homage to traditional Australian beach architecture.

A GREAT SPOT TO WORK

Construction in Jurien Bay presented unique logistical considerations, given its location 220 kilometers north of Perth. Our team efficiently managed material deliveries and workforce scheduling to maintain project momentum while working in this beautiful coastal setting. The result is a structure that not only serves its practical purpose but also enhances the visual appeal of Jurien Bay’s beachfront.

The pavilion now stands as a multifunctional community space, offering shelter from sun and wind while providing an ideal gathering spot for both locals and tourists. Its design thoughtfully incorporates viewing areas that maximize the spectacular Indian Ocean vistas, creating an inviting space that connects visitors with the natural beauty of Western Australia’s coastline.
